Tehran- At least seven civil activists were arrested by security forces in different parts of the country. Among the detainees, Saeed Eqbal, Dariush Zandi, Shima Babaei, Leyla Farjami, Mahmoud Masumi and Behnam Mousivand have been so far identified, but the number of the detainees will probably increase.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), during a coordinated action of security forces across the country, a number of civil activists, mostly known and formerly detained, were arrested on Thursday, February 1, 2018.
According to reports, Behnam Mousivand, a civil activist, was arrested at his father’s house in Tehran.
An informed source, reporting this news told HRANA’s reporter: “Behnam Mousivand was arrested violently at his house.”
Another detainee is a girl from Rasht city, whose identity is still under investigatin by HRANA.
Saeed Eqbal is another civil activist who was arrested in the same morning at his father’s house in Kermanshah.
It has been reported that Dariush Zandi and his wife, Shima Baba’i, were also arrested by security forces at the same time.
Along with these individuals, security forces have arrested Leyla Farjami, a civil activist, in her private home and transferred her to an unknown location. However, unconfirmed reports have been published about her freedom some hours after being arrested.
Along with these people, Mahmoud Massoumi, another civil activist, was arrested by security agents, on the same day.
Most of those detained have previous detention records. However, in a prominent example, Behnam Mousivand had been released from Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, after serving one year imprisonment sentence, on Wednesday, May 31, 2017.
